Moonbow Archery’s Chief Instructor, Lloyd Canty, is Southern Oregon’s top Instinctive-style Archery Instructor. He is Level 2 certified through USA Archery and he is recognized as one of the top traditional archery instructors in the U.S.
Archery captured Lloyd’s imagination as a 7 year old, growing up in Australia and since then, he has shared his passion for archery with people from all over the world. Through his Ashland Oregon company, Moonbow Archery, Lloyd provides individual and group archery instruction & hosts traditional & modern archery events for professional groups, retreats, sports teams, corporations, family gatherings & special celebrations.
Lloyd’s teaching style originates from his career as a professional corporate trainer, Aikido & archery instructor. Aiming from the Heart is the focal point of his instinctive-style archery instruction, a practice with roots in antiquity, from the chariot riding Egyptian archers, Scythian horse-back archers of Eurasia. Assyrians, Turks, Koreans, Mongolian mounted archers, renowned Welsh & English Long bowmen & Japanese Zen practitioners of the “Way of the Bow.
He sees archery as an effective tool for unifying the mind and body, fine-tuning focus and concentration and developing an enhanced sense of personal awareness. Through his unique archery teaching methods he calls: Aiming from the Heart, Lloyd has helped his students reach personal targets by focusing the mind and relieving stress, tension & anxiety.
Lloyd enjoys sharing this tool of mental empowerment, physical skill and youthful fun with others, young and old, all over Southern Oregon. He hosts a weekly indoor/outdoor Open Range archery sessions at his Archery Center called: Sherwood, together with Individual, Professional, Group, Family and Archery Sessions. These sessions are for those interested in developing Instinctive-Style archery skills, having fun and sharing their love of archery with others.
Lloyd was the first to bring the team archery game of ArrowTag to the Rogue Valley in 2016. In 2018 he introduced a unique Four-Dimensional Moving Target archery system – the first of its kind in the U.S.A!
